I was driving through a small Texas town when I saw this restored Mercury convertible in a parking lot behind main street. This car was pointed away from the street and had a white sign hanging from the rear view mirror. (I had to drive through the parking lot to read the sign.)
I don't know the story; but I imagine it went something like this... One day the owner's wife says;" You've been saying you're going to sell that Mercury for months now. Why don't you put a for sale sign on it and park it in a parking lot on main street." So the owner took it to a parking lot behind main street and parked it facing away from the street. The sign is on the car; but it's hard to read. When he gets home, the owner tells his wife, "I tried, but no one was interested."
